About Woodland

Woodland Baptist Church is a body of born again regenerate Christians with a desire to fulfill the great commission from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and bring glory to God. Woodland is a voluntary member of the Haywood Baptist Association, North Carolina Baptist Convention, Southern Baptist Convention, True Church Association of Churches and a Founders ministry church. Even though we are in full co-operation with these institutions we are fully free to make our own decisions here at the local church under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and in accordance to God’s inspired and inerrant Word. We chose to be affiliated with these institutions in order to better fulfill the great commission.

Woodland Baptist believes in mission work at home and at large. We believe that there is no other way to God but through His Son Jesus Christ by personal repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. WBC believes in and holds high the historic doctrines of our Baptist faith. Therefore we believe in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all we come in contact with. We believe the Church’s sole support should come from the tithes and offerings of the people of God. Everyone is invited to worship with us here at Woodland Baptist Church. We hope you find a friendly and warm atmosphere where God can develop you into the Christian He wants you to be.

Worship

We have Worship Services each Sunday at Woodland: 10:30am and 6:30pm. Our music is a blend of traditional with contemporary specials and praise music which brings glory to God. We are careful to use only scripturally correct music that is done in a way to glorify God and Him alone. Because we believe in the power of God’s Word to change lives our pastor’s sermons are biblically based expository sermons that make the scriptures relevant for our life today. We hope that everyone who comes to worship here at Woodland leaves with something from God’s Word that will change a part or all of their life so as to bring glory to our God.

Educational Ministries

There are many opportunities for biblical and spiritual education here at Woodland. We offer Bible Fellowship group Bible study on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. These are age graded groups that offer real life bible study that attempts to challenge each person in the application of God’s Word. Come and grab a cup of coffee and enjoy small group studies on Sunday mornings. We also offer some home groups that are now meeting for those who prefer these type of small groups. Call the church office to find out about availability.

We offer Christian Life Groups on Wednesday evenings. These classes are quarter based and cover many topics we face as Christians. You can choose from a list of classes that are available. Check out our educational page for more details.

Youth Ministries

Youth have several opportunities for worship and discipleship each week. Woodland offers youth a dynamic worship service each Sunday evening called “Consumed”. This worship service is led by our Pastor of Student Families Caleb Payne. There is small group prayer time, praise and worship music, testimony time and a Biblical message geared for the challenges youth face today. This worship service starts at 6:30pm and is held in “The Fire House” which is located in rooms 307-309.

Youth also have the opportunity to meet on Sunday morning for group Bible study at 9:30. On Wed. evenings Woodland has youth discipleship small groups at 6:30pm. These are age graded study groups that focus on issues specifically related to youth in grades 6 through 12.

Children’s Ministries

Woodland offers many ministries for children. We have age graded Bible study each Sunday Morning at 9:30am and Children’s Church during the morning worship time at 10:30am for ages 3-6. Our Children’s Foundations program meets each Wed. evening at 6:00pm. This is a great Bible program for children ages 3 through 5th grade. The children and youth in this program learn and memorize many scriptures that they can use in their walk with Jesus. They learn to apply these scripture truths to their own lives. Many of our children have come to repentance and a personal relationship with Jesus through the scriptures they have learned in this program. We also offer a class on Sunday evening during he evening worship celebration that teaches children the important doctrines of God on a childs level. Children also meet on the first Sunday evening of each month at 5:30pm to learn about Mission work and to do a mission project.

Parent are invited and encouraged to join their children and youth in all area’s of worship, study and discipleship training as Pastor Caleb moves Woodland towards a more family-integrated worship, equipping families to study the Word of God together.
