Associate Pastor, David A Williams
Pastor David came to Woodland in spring, 2011, retiring after fourteen years of ministry to Native Americans near Cherokee, NC. He still maintains strong connections to the Cherokee people. He is a native of the north-central Bluegrass (Kentucky), where most of his family still lives. His wife, Greta, served beside him faithfully until her passing in the fall of 2015. Brother David earned his education from the University of Louisville, Boyce Bible School and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1969-1995), where he was an SME Supervisor (School of Theology) for twelve years. He has extensive experience as pastor in KY, IN, WV, and NC, and has also served previously as a Minister of Youth and five times as an Interim Minister of Music. For seven years, he sang high tenor with the Christo Quartet. He was founding pastor of the Beacon of Hope, where he has been named Pastor Emeritus. Besides nursing home and hospital chaplaincies, which he still maintains, he has also served as a Hospice and SMU (AF) chaplain. David ministers at Woodland essentially as pastor of seniors and pastoral care. He has preached across the Mid-west and has taught every age group, presently teaching our Sanctuary Bible Class, plus occasional Bible book series.
